Diapers, Halloween & Baths (Oh My!)

Tomorrow Milo goes back to the pediatrician. I'm curious to see how much he weighs now. He was 9 pounds 4 oz back on October 2nd. My guess is 11 pounds 2 oz.

We've been using cloth diapers now for about 2 weeks. I know some of you are thinking "Cloth diapers? They must be crazy!" There have been some advances in cloth diapering over the years. No need for safety pins! The diapers we use are called Bum Genius. They have a polyester shell that you stuff with a microfiber insert. They grow with the baby, from 8 pounds up to 35 pounds. They are a bit expensive at first, but you can use them forever and they don't fill up a landfill somewhere. To be honest, I was a bit doubtful at first. Breastfed babies have some yucky poo and I didn't think it would wash out. I'm still amazed how clean they get.

Last weekend we went to our friend Alison's 5th annual pumpkin carving. Alison bought Milo the cutest Halloween onesie before he was born. It fit him perfectly! Isn't he handsome?

A few weeks ago Milo had his first bath. He was not a fan, as you can see in this picture.

  1. Milo, you'll learn to love the bath.
Cloth diapers are so much better! Expensive at first, but definitely cheaper in the long run. Also, many people buy used diapers, so you can sell them after years of using them for about half of what you bought them for. Go cloth!
Breastfed babies do have some nasty poo, but formula fed diapers are way worse. I did lots of babysitting in my days and those formula fed diapers STUNK. I think the breastmilk poo smell is not that bad, kinda sour and sweet. Moms love to talk about poo. Sorry.
