As most of you know by now, Milo James was born 9/16 at 8:11 pm. He weighed in at a healthy 8 lbs 5 oz and was 21 inches long. Not bad for a vegan baby! The labor was definitely the hardest workout I've ever experienced in my life. I also have a new appreciation for the '10' on the pain scale they show you at the hospital.
Although I really wanted a natural and epidural free birth, things don't always go as planned. I made it to 7.5 cm but at that point the contractions were so strong and close together I wasn't able to rest in between. I was already so tired at that point I knew I wouldn't have any strength to push when it was time to do that. I have to say that I'm pretty proud of myself for making it as far as I did though. Like I said earlier- I know now what a 10 feels like on the pain scale. After I got the epidural things seemed to progress much easier. I still had to push for a good 2 hours though before he was born. I couldn't imagine doing that without the epidural since I was already so worn out. Once the doctor placed him on my chest I got a second wind. Nothing mattered anymore- I was a mom. What an amazing experience and feeling.
Tony was amazing during the whole process. He was a great breathing partner and really encouraged me to keep going. The nurse said we were an awesome team. Hooray for Team Price! I also want to thank my mom and sister for being there. There were days before the birth that I wasn't so sure I wanted them in the room seeing my 'area'- but it really didn't matter in the end. They definitely helped me bring Milo into the world.
Congrats Baby Milo! Welcome to the world.
ReplyDeleteI have crazy respect for any woman who can make it beyond the third month of pregnancy without a daily epidural, so I'd say you did awesome!
ReplyDeleteWe're looking forward to watching you guys raise 'im. Just keep Matt (& Trainwreck) away from him... they made Connor cry and he hasn't forgotten it.
We are so very happy for you guys. Go Team Price!
ReplyDeleteThey don't call it "labor" for nothing. It's hard. No matter the process by which they come out, it'll always be one of the most amazing experiences of your life. It's really all about the first moment you see them and hold them anyway.
ReplyDeleteDon't be scared of Matt. Halen loved both the Miller boys. Trainwreck was a little in their face, but mine are used to that.
